When the world is all at odds
And the mind is all at sea
Then cease the useless tedium
And brew a cup of tea.
There is magic in its fragrance,
There is solace in its taste;
And the laden moments vanish
Somehow into space.
The world becomes a lovely thing!
There’s beauty as you’ll see;
All because you briefly stopped
To brew a cup of tea.
Most of the time when I have my cup of tea or coffee in the morning I read or watch a show and just think about nothing for a little while. But, every now and then I get the urge to stare off into space and let my mind wander. So, this time I got to thinking about having tea with my Grandmother. She wasn’t your typical grandmotherly type. First of all, she was an alcoholic and she smoked 2 packs a day. She was single, had many “boyfriends”, was a full time RN in Baltimore and a HUGE Orioles fan.
She was my favorite person in the world. No one could make me laugh harder or feel safer. She was a tough old bird but she loved me like nobody else. We’d sit in her tiny little kitchen in her tiny little apartment and talk for hours about everything and nothing over hot cups of tea…hers doctored of course. I miss her everyday.
